Gauteng top sellers

Date

In the spirit of the well-known proverb that tells us “better old news than no news at all” (or something to that effect), we bring you photos from bidorbuy‘s May 2008 Top Sellers’ Awards Dinner. (The upside being – bidorbuy‘s top sellers get to see what they looked like almost a month ago.)

First things first: the top seller for Gauteng for the 2007-2008 selling season was RandCoin, with Redhawk and GamesXchange following closely. A lovely trophy and hamper went to the winner, and the the runners up got nice prizes too.

Here is the group photo of winners, other top sellers and several bidorbuy guys, captured on camera for posterity:

The awards ceremony honouring bidorbuy‘s 2007-2008 top sellers for Gauteng area was held on 22 May 2008 at Primi Piatti in Melrose Arch, Johannesburg. Fortified by a gourmet meal and cheered by a glass of wine or two (with the ladies elated after being sternly asked to produce their IDs), about hundred participants took part in a real-life charity auction. Under the competent guidance of a real auctioneer, Glen, items like a Moyo meal voucher for four, an overnight stay at the Westcliffe, a framed commemorative Manchester United picture collection,  several Visa credit cards preloaded with real money (total value: R7000), a framed Michael Schumaker autographed cap, and a lovely large Clint Strydom photo print were quickly snapped up. This is the picture of the Clint Strydom  work of art:

The proceeds went to the The Starfish Greathearts Foundation, an international development charity working with orphaned and vulnerable children in southern Africa. Our thanks to the winners of the auctions – GoldWorld, AngelaBraun, Great Value, The Banker, Cindysn, and bidorbuy‘s own Cuan (who won the Schumaker’s hat). Their contributions, amounting to R13,600, will definitely help some very needy children.

Also, a big thank you to all the many, many great bidorbuy sellers; your effort and hard work are appreciated.
