5 movies to look out for in 2017

Date

The future of the year 2017 looks very bright when it comes to movies. It looks like most of the movies coming out this year are a continuation or rather a link to past movies, which brings even more excitement. The year took off with the release of Fifty Shades Darker and John Wick Chapter 2, building up from the first John Wick. So could this be the year of “mind blowing” movies? Here’s my list of 5 movies to look out for this year:

1. Pirate of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No lies

The first Pirate of the Caribbean film was released in 2003 and received positive reviews from around the globe. After the success of the first film, a second version entitled “Dead Man’s Chest” was released in 2006, followed by “At World’s End” in 2007 and, “On Stranger Tides” in 2011. And the latest version titled “Dead men Tell No lies” is set to be released on 26 May 2017.

About the movie:
Captain Salazer escapes from the devil’s triangle following deadly ghost pirates who which are determined to kill every pirate at sea. And Captain Jack Sparrow’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon.

2. Transformers: The Last Knight

“Transformers: The Last Knight” is the fifth film of the Transformers series. The first film was released in 2007, followed by Revenge of the Fallen in 2009, Dark of the Moon in 2011 and Age of Extinction in 2014.

About the movie:
This year, Optimus Prime finds Cybertron (his home planet) which is now a dead planet and later on he discovers that he was responsible for killing the planet. He then tries to bring the planet back to life, but to do so, he must travel to Earth and find an “artefact”. So the war between transformers and humans begins. The movie will hit theatres from 23 June 2017.

3. Desplicable Me 3

Despicable Me 3 is a build up from Despicable Me (2013) and Despicable Me 2 (2015). In the past Despicable Me movies, minions were the signature characters as they brought in fun and comedy, and everyone would agree that they are great characters in general.

About Despicable Me 3:
In Despicable Me 3, things get spiced up as the “father of minions” (Gru) gets in a battle with a former child star who grows up to become obsessed with the character he played in the ’80s. Gru also get to meet up with his long lost twin brother (Dru). The release date of this movie is 30 June 2017.

Why watch the movie:
In the past two despicable Me movies, Gru was very funny and entertaining with his ideas of “taking over the world”. Now imagine a movie with two Grus in it!? Must be very exciting.

4. Spider-Man: Home Coming

Spider-Man movies never disappoint, they always meet the public’s expectations. The first Spider-Man appeared in the early 1960s and people loved it. The film series became even greater by featuring Toby Maguire to play the role of Spider-Man.

About the Movie:
Tom Holland is now the new Spider-Man in this year’s Spider-Man movie, and the main villain will be played by Michael Keaton. Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May, under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark.

Why watch the movie:
The new Spider-Man movie will come with changes, and that’s something to look forward to. The movie will feature Tony Stark (Iron Man), but he is not there to steal Spider-Man’s shine; Spider-Man is still the main character in the movie. If you love change, then this is the right movie for you.

5. Thor: Ragnarok

Thor is another superhero film series based on a comic book character. The series centres on Thor, the crown prince of Asgard. Thor: Ragnarok is the third film to be released in the series of Thor movies.

About the movie:
The movie is set to be released on 3 November 2017. In the movie, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the Universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok.

Why watch the movie:
This film contains three members of the Defenders superhero group: Valkyrie, the Hulk, and Doctor Strange.

There are many other interesting movies being released this year, including “The Lego Batman Movie”, “Logan”, “Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 2”, “Wonder Woman”, and “Justice League”.
