Three outdoor sports you’ll love this summer

Unless you’re a die-hard fitness fanatic, outdoor sports can be tough to stick with during the cold winter months. Now that summer is here, allow us to introduce you to some awesome outdoor sports you may not have considered before. After all, it’s the perfect time of year to have fun in the sun!

You can go the distance

Some say running is cheaper than therapy, and there’s more truth in this saying than you might expect. When you run, endorphins and serotonin are released in your body – otherwise known as ‘feel-good chemicals’. So it’s no surprise that running regularly can improve your mental health. 

Let’s look at what you need to get you started. First off, consider finding a running partner or joining a running club. Starting a new sport is tough enough, so a little extra encouragement and support can’t hurt. You’ll need a quality pair of running shoes, and comfortable apparel and a cap are also must-haves. Nice-to-have accessories for runners include a smart watch, earbuds and a running belt to store your keys and your phone.

Live to ride 

Not only are bicycles a great alternative  to other forms of transport, they are also an awesome way to keep fit. There are many reasons why cycling is a great sport to consider: besides improving your physical and mental health, it will allow you to make friends and join a community of cyclists who have a passion for the sport. 

There are many types of cycling, but the two main ones are road  and mountain biking.Road bikes are used for longer distances at higher speeds, while mountain bikes let you tackle off-road terrain.

Swimming can also help improve your posture, making it a great option for those with back problems. Another great advantage of swimming as a sport is that you won’t need many accessories or expensive gadgets. Essentials include swimwear, goggles and a cap, and of course you’ll need access to a pool, whether in a gym or at home.
