Movember: Fashion for your Face

Date

The proliferation of moustaches around Johannesburg (and particularly around the bidorbuy office) made me curious about what magnificent mustachioed items are selling on bidorbuy. So I had a good comb through the site and found these smashing official Movember merchandise tees and caps.

I chatted to the seller, Chene, who brushed me up on the Mo’ movement:

“Movember is an annual moustache-growing global charity campaign that takes place throughout the month of November to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health issues. To date, over 1.1 million Mo Bros and Sistas have registered and raised over R1.2 billion worldwide. All funds raised in South Africa go directly to The Cancer Association of South Africa’s (CANSA) Men’s Health Programmes, specifically for prostate and testicular cancer.

Men start 01 November with a clean shaven face and then grow and groom their moustaches throughout the month of November raising awareness and funds for men’s health issues. Even if you have not managed to grow a moustache, you can still register and donate to Movember to support the cause.

By registering (for free) on www.movember.com, you can donate to other people’s Mo Spaces, or ask them to donate to yours. If you raise R300 you become eligible for one free ticket to one of the Gala Partés taking place in Cape Town on 24 Movember at Trinity and Johannesburg on 26 Movember at Latinova this year. If you raise R500 or more, you receive 2 free tickets. Gala Partés are held across the world to thank Mo Bros and Mo Sistas for helping to raise awareness and funds for men’s health.

They are world renowned exhibitions of nature’s finest bounty, the moustache. Dress to suit your Mo or your Mo Bro, celebrate the craft of growing a Mo and compete for a number of category titles, including Best Mo in Character, Team Mo, Miss Movember and, of course, the ultimate accolade – Man of Movember 2011.

So, – skinny, bushy, curly or handle-barred – show us your Mo’ !
