Get fit at home with Bob Shop
If – like many of us here at Bob Shop – your New Year’s resolution is to get fit in 2025, you might be thinking that you need to join a gym. We totally understand if that doesn’t appeal to you – there’s the cost of the membership, then the downsides of actually going to the gym, like queuing for the machines and seeing strangers naked!
The good news is that you can find everything you need to get fit at home right here on Bob Shop. That means you can work out in your own time and at your own pace, and without ever feeling that you’re being judged. If you’re new to exercise, the gym can be intimidating – so why not gain confidence by getting fit at home?
Wardrobe essentials
Nothing is as motivating as a new outfit, so check out our selection of exercise wear. The most important thing is to be comfortable, so invest in loose-fitting, lightweight and breathable clothing, like sweatpants, gym shorts and t-shirts. While you’re at it, treat yourself to a new pair of sneakers, too – look for a pair that offers good grip and support.
Top tip: channel your inner 80s pop star with some fun, functional accessories like sweatbands for your head and wrists.
Choose your weapons
The home gym equipment you’ll need will depend on the kind of workouts you want to do, and what your personal fitness goals are. Perhaps the most useful piece of kit is a yoga mat – whether you’ll be doing planks or Pilates, this is a must-have. Resistance bands will help you build strength, while free weights let you sculpt and shape those arms.
Get big and stay home
If you want the full gym experience without going out the front door, then you’re going to need some serious equipment. Choose a machine that lets you do multiple exercises, and that you know you’ll enjoy – otherwise it risks becoming an expensive clothes rack.
A treadmill gives you all the benefits of running in the streets, but is safer (no traffic) and more convenient. Use the speed and gradient settings to make each home run more challenging as your fitness improves.
Rowing machines and elliptical trainers let you use multiple muscle groups in the same workout, and can contribute to achieving your overall fitness goals. They also help you avoid injuries when compared to running. If you’ve always wanted to go to a spinning class but you’re too shy to pedal in public, an exercise bike is the perfect solution.
Sweat the small stuff
Workouts are meant to be hard work – that’s the whole point! That said, there’s no reason to feel uncomfortable while you get fit at home. You’ll need to stay hydrated, so check out our options when it comes to water bottles. Supplements can also help – remember that the new year new you will be burning a lot more calories, so you need to replenish your body’s reserves.
Last but not least, you’re going to want to freshen up after your home workout, which means you’ll need shampoo, conditioner, body wash and deodorant. Thanks to Bob Shop, getting fit at home and feeling fresh has never been easier.
