The spectacular spring weather is the perfect time for some do-it-yourself home projects. Here is a creative idea for a simple DIY kitchen improvement project for you to consider…

One of the most popular trends when it comes to making your kitchen look extra stylish is to add a tile backsplash. A backsplash is the portion of your kitchen wall visible between the counter spaces and the wall cabinets. Here’s how to install a tile backsplash:

1. Get the supplies. You’ll need:

  • Kitchen tile strips of your choosing
  • Tile adhesive
  • Grout
  • Sandpaper
  • Sponges and a bucket
  • Measuring tape

2. Preparation:

Remove all plug sockets and other fixtures from the backsplash. Then, sandpaper the backsplash to take off the paint and get a rough surface. Wipe well with a damp cloth.

3. Application:

Apply tile adhesive to a small section of the wall and then apply the tile strips by pressing firmly onto the wall. Start from the lowest part of the wall, where it meets the countertops.

4. Grout:

Mix grout well and apply on the tiled surface. Let dry for five minutes and using a wet sponge, clean off the excess grout from the tiles. Make sure all the tiles are completely clean before tiling the next section of the wall.
