The final whistle blew at various grounds across the UK signalling the end to another incredible Premier League season.

Chelsea FC were crowned champions after sealing a hard fought win against West Brom, which took the club to a total of five Premier League titles and a second in three seasons. The celebrations were filled with emotion as John Terry, Chelsea’s most successful captain, walked onto the Stamford Bridge pitch for the last time as a Chelsea player

Terry has been involved in all of Chelsea’s winning sides since their first win in the 04/05 season, collecting a total of five Premier League winners medals, five FA Cups, three Football League Cups, two FA Community shields, a Europa League title and the biggest trophy in club football – the UEFA Champions League. Chelsea feature in the FA Cup final so he could add another trophy to his name.

His individual honours also reflect the calibre of player he is with five appearances in the FIFA FIFPro World XI, five appearances in the PFA Team of the Year and a total of 67 goals during his 717 appearances in a Chelsea shirt. This works out to approximately one goal every ten games!

It is anyone’s guess as to where he goes from here but John Terry has said that he will decide his future after the FA Cup final.

The race for the top four was the closest in recent years, with five teams vying for three spots.

Manchester City, Liverpool, Spurs and Manchester United were all within touching distance of the top four at some stage throughout the season, so there was no shortage of incentive, especially when you bear in mind the fact that European football is often a key factor when attracting new players.

Manchester City confirmed the third spot with the 5-0 demolition of Watford and Liverpool held off a late challenge from Arsenal to take the last remaining spot. A 26 game unbeaten run by Manchester United was only good enough to confirm a 6th place finish with the only back door prospect of featuring in next years UCL coming from winning the Europa League.
