The iPad mini is a sleek tablet that can be used by anyone. It has the same capabilities as its big brother, just in a smaller package. It is available in white/silver and black/slate. It is incredibly light and can fit in one hand although it is a bit of stretch if you have small hands. It packs a dual-core A5 processor which may be seen as old technology as the processor was introduced with the release of the iPhone 4S. Furthermore the display is not “Retina Quality” but rather a 7.9 inch with a resolution of 1024 by 768. All the apps available on the App Store can run on the device but many expect that the tablet will not be able to keep up as apps become more demanding.
The iPad mini has had some mixed reviews. Apple’s medium sized device definitely has its place among all the other 7 inch tablets that are available but it may be seen as polished on the outside and aged in the inside. In comparison to its big brother though, the iPad mini is great for reading since it is so light which also means it competes directly with Amazon Kindles. In this instance, Apple’s device is polished and you can always rely on iOS to ensure a great user experience.
The one factor that hasn’t been mentioned is price. Starting from R3399 for a Wi-Fi only version, it may attract customers who are looking for an iPad but feel that the device was over priced previously. Therefore the iPad mini can definitely fit into anyone’s life depending on what you are looking for in a tablet.
