Sellers, mind your attributes

Date

selling on bidorbuy Respect the attributes structure on bidorbuy to make it easier for shoppers to land on your listing.

By now, you surely know that attributes have replaced many subcategories on bidorbuy. The trend, started with the Property section way back in December 2011, will eventually spread to all categories that lend themselves to attributes (and almost all do).

The reasoning behind the introduction of attributes is obvious. They make it easier for shoppers to find exactly what they are looking for.

As for sellers, they need to work with the system if they want shoppers to find their items.

So, sellers, when you list your products, take time to make the correct selection. For example, if you want to list a Huawei P7 smartphone, you will click on bidorbuy – Cell Phones and Accessories – Cell Phones and Smartphones to set the broader category, and then proceed to select the all-important details: the brand, capacity, screen size and camera. Here is how your selection could look like:

If you fail to go through these steps… your item will end up in the attribute called “not specified” which, you must admit, does not look all that neat.

If you are a seller with a product feed on bidorbuy and are not sure how to implement the attributes structure, you may contact our category managers at categoryadmin@bidorbuy.co.za for help.

Sellers who use the bulk upload tool currently can not tap into the attributes structure. We are working on it; however, in the meantime, the best advice we have for them is to make the titles of their listings rich by including the most important specifications. For example, our Huawai P7 listing would have a title like this: Huawai P7 16GB, Android OS, 5” Screen, 13MP Camera. That way, it is more likely for shoppers looking for this smartphone to land on your listing.
