The original game Sacred was released in 2004 and since then millions of players have hacked and slashed their way through hordes of monsters and human antagonists in an effort to thwart the evil machinations of the individual titles’ primary foes.

The games themselves are unashamedly modelled on the more famous Diablo series and have a popular following. Sacred 3 enters the fray ready to clinch a large section of the market – especially players who were disgruntled by the Diablo 3 fixed character development and dreaded auction house.

Sacred 3 sees a band of heroes forming in answer to the evil Lord Zane’s alliance with demons in order to embark on a diabolic crusade to open the gates of the underworld. Players can choose one of four different classes, each with their own unique weapons, back stories and skills. While previous titles in the series were more in the action rpg mould, this latest offering falls firmly in the hack and slash domain. The game is relatively linear but players can access higher difficulty levels earlier on in the game also. A co-op mode, where up to four players can play together, has been touted as one of the game’s best elements.
