A clean space is a clean mind

The change of season brings beautiful flowers blooming (welcome back, allergies!) and warmer weather. It also gives us a reason to do a good old spring clean! It’s always easier to tackle one room at a time and while you clean, you can also declutter – it’s a win-win! Check out our guide to spring cleaning, bidorbuy style.

Closet declutter

Closets and wardrobes are often the messiest part of any home, as they make a convenient place to stuff your clothes and other clutter when you’re in a rush and want everything out of sight. That makes your closets a great place to start. Start by taking all your clothes and sorting them into three piles: one to keep, one to give away and a third pile for ‘maybe’ items. To make a final decision, try on each of your maybe items one last time to see if they still fit and still make you smile.

Give your closet a good clean using a multi-purpose cleaner before you return all your ‘keep’ clothes to their place. Make sure you have enough hangers for one per piece of clothing. This will let you see all your hanging clothes at a glance and avoid stretching items out of shape.

Now let’s tackle the rest, using a clothes folder to get all your t-shirts perfectly aligned before moving onto smaller items. Drawer organisers are also a must-have item if you want to keep socks and underwear neat and tidy.

Spruce up your bathroom

A clean bathroom is a must, but when life gets busy, some of the little things can get overlooked. A good spring clean will give you the opportunity to sort through old, expired toiletries, medication, makeup and skincare products. Give each container  a wipe and arrange them in a handy bathroom organiser for easy access. Yes, it’s great to have things neat and organised but you also need a user-friendly system that works for you and your family. Arrange all your shower essentials in a shower caddy and you’re all set to wash and go! And while you’re in an organising mood, be sure to use our bathroom and toilet cleaners to get everything looking spick and span!

Kitchen clean up

The kitchen is the heart of every home, and often also a very messy and chaotic area. Let’s just say, less is more when it comes to any kitchen. Decultter any items you don’t use and store appliances and gadgets in easy to reach cupboards.  Useful items to sort this space include handy cutlery organisers, fridge organisers to  group similar items and jars and storage canisters to make it easier to arrange your pantry efficiently. As always, clean as you go – our range of kitchen cleaners will make cleaning fun and enjoyable.

Press reset on your home office

Let’s not forget the source of all paper nightmares, your home office. You know that stack of so-called important papers? The one that’s been on your desk since the first lockdown?  Tackle that first, remembering ‘OHIO’ – only handle it once! Sort through each one, and if they really are important, put them in a file or folder. For those that you want to toss, invest in a paper shredder to safely dispose of any sensitive information like old bank statements. Up next, it’s the turn of your collection of non-working pens (we all have one). Grab a blank piece of paper and test each pen and highlighter, chucking those that are dry or broken. Last but not least, sort through your desk drawers and set aside any items you no longer use or need. Shop our range of desk organisers to make your WFH space neater and less distracting.
